بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم
الحمد لله رب العالمين و صلاة و سلام على سيدنا محمد و على آله و صحبه
The first day of Jumada Al Awwal 1448 AH will fall on October 13, 2026 (CE). The month of Rabi’ Ath-Thaani concluded with 30 days.
There were reports of the hilal declarations on the evening of October 11, 2026 from mainstream Hilal Committees. It was initially claimed that there were Hilal sightings in Michigan and Trinidad. It was later clarified that the hilal was sighted in Trinidad and Suriname. The hilal was not sighted in the United States. In New Jersey, at the time of sunset, the hilal was approximately 1 degree above the horizon making it very difficult to be seen. Additionally, it was cloudy and rainy in New Jersey on the evening of October 11, 2026. Therefore, the 30th of Rabi’ Ath-Thaani was October 12, 2026 and the first of Jumada Al Awwal was October 13, 2026.
These monthly announcements serve a dual purpose. First, they seek to increase awareness and appreciation of the Hijri calendar among the Muslim community in America. Second, they provide a historical record of events surrounding lunar observations, preserving details that may be of value to future generations.
