الحمد لله رب العالمين و صلاة و سلام على سيدنا محمد و على آله و صحبه.

Allah makes an oath in Suratul Fajr,

The Dawn (89:1-5)

89:1
وَٱلْفَجْرِ ١

By the dawn,

89:2
وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍۢ ٢

and the ten nights,

89:3
وَٱلشَّفْعِ وَٱلْوَتْرِ ٣

and the even and the odd,

89:4
وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ ٤

and the night when it passes!

89:5
هَلْ فِى ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمٌۭ لِّذِى حِجْرٍ ٥

Is all this ˹not˺ a sufficient oath for those who have sense?

In various commentaries of the Quran, it is noted that the ten nights that Allah, The Highly Exalted, is swearing by are the ten days and nights of Dhul Hijjah.

The Messenger of Allah is reported to have said about the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, as is recorded in the following hadith,

وعن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما قال‏: ‏ قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم‏: ‏ ‏”‏ ما من أيام العمل الصالح فيها أحب إلى الله من هذه الأيام‏”‏ يعني أيام العشر، قالوا‏: ‏ يا رسول الله ولا الجهاد في سبيل الله‏؟‏ قال‏: ‏ ‏”‏ولا الجهاد في سبيل الله، إلا رجل خرج بنفسه، وماله فلم يرجع من ذلك بشيء‏”‏ ‏(‏‏(‏رواه البخاري‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏

Ibn ‘Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “There are no days during which the righteous action is so pleasing to Allah than these days (i.e., the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah).” He was asked: “O Messenger of Allah, not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah?” He (ﷺ) replied, “Not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah, except in case one goes forth with his life and his property and does not return with either of it.” [Al- Bukhari].

To proceed:

The 18th of May, 2026 CE will correspond with the first day of Dhul Hijjah 1447 AH. The Hilal was sighted in various parts of the world including Saudi Arabia, Morocco, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. It was sighted in New Jersey, Tennessee, Michigan, California, Georgia, Florida, Arizona, North Carolina and Washington. I personally sighted the Hilal from the parking lot of the Islamic Center of East Brunswick after the Maghrib prayer. We now find ourselves at the door of the best days of the year. Let us fill these ten days with good intentions and deeds. Let us guard our tongues and open our hearts to the mercy of Allah. The day of Arafat should correspond with the 26th of May, 2026 CE. Therefore Eid Al Adha will be on the 27th of May, 2026 CE.

We are in a sacred month, in the best ten days of the year, at the precipice of the Hajj. This is a tremendous moment in time. May Allah guide us aright and straighten our affairs. May He rectified the Ummah of the Messenger of Allah. May He have mercy on the Ummah of the Messenger of Allah. May He be pleased with the Ummah of the Messenger of Allah. All praise and thanks belong to Allah in every condition!
