بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم

All praise and thanks belong to Allah. May Allah’s blessings and peace be upon the Prophet Muhammad, his family and companions and all who follow him until the end of time.

Last night on 26-May-2025/ 29 Dhul Qa’dah 1446 AH at 11:02 pm EST after sunset, the astronomical new moon was birthed. This event of the birth of the astronomical new moon is invisible to the naked eye. However, it is an indication that the succeeding evenings the first crescent of the new moon may be seen. Due to the night preceding the day, today 27-May-2025 is the day of 29 Dhul Qa’dah 1446 AH. We will begin our search for the hilal this evening after sunset. The moon at the time of sunset on the east coast of the United States should be about 21 hours old at an altitude of 11 degrees above the horizon with a luminosity of 0.70% – 1 %. It is expected to be easily seen throughout the United States and the western hemisphere. Please make an attempt to look westward tonight after the Maghrib prayer for the hilal of Dhul Hijjah 1446 AH.

Dhul Hijjah is the month of the Hajj, the fifth pillar of Islam. The first ten days of Dhul Hijjah are the best days of the year and an opportunity to draw near to Allah in obligatory and voluntary worship. On the fourth of Dhul Hijjah, the major pilgrimage will begin. On the ninth of Dhul Hijjah, the culmination of the Hajj takes place as that is the day of Arafat when the pilgrims are on the plains and the mountain of Arafat supplicating to our Most Gracious Lord. The tenth of Dhul Hijjah is Eid Al Adha, the greater of the two Eids that Muslims celebrate throughout the globe.

We look forward to engaging in worship and fellowship during this coming sacred month. May Allah bless you and increase you in every good!
