الحمد لله رب العالمين و صلاة و سلام على سيدنا محمد و على آله و صحبه.

أما بعد:

On the evening of May 8th, 2024, the hilal of the Sacred Month of Dhul Qa’dah was sighted throughout the continental United States of America. Some of the places where experienced moon sighters reported their sightings were Phoenix, Arizona, St. Paul, Minnesota, and various locations within the state of California. Due to these confirmed sightings, the first day of the sacred month of Dhul Qa’dah 1445 AH will correspond with May 9th, 2024.

Traditionally, the Haij season begins in the month of Shawwal. The blessed month of Ramadan serves as the spiritual preparation for the Hajj, which occurs in the sacred month of Dhul Hijjah. It is during these months of Shawwal and Dhul Qa’dah that Muslims get their affairs in order so that they can participate in both the spiritual and physical journey of the Hajj. Those who do not partake in the physical Hajj still have the opportunity to spiritual journey of the Hajj season. May Allah bless us to find blessing and benefit in these sacred months.
