According to local sighting today, January 3^rd, 2024, corresponds with the 20^th of Jumada Al Akhir 1445 AH. It as been reported that this Hijri date (AH) is the birthdate of our Lady Fatimah Az-Zahra رضي الله عنها. Lady Fatimahعنها  رضي الله is the youngest daughter of our beloved Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She was born in Makkah prior to the descending of revelation of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. All known descendants of the beloved Prophet ﷺ trace their lineage to him ﷺ through her and her children. Lady Fatimah رضي الله عنها even as a child was a fierce defender of the faith of Islam and her beloved father ﷺ. When the Quraish would harass her father or speak ill to him ﷺ in her presence, she would verbally defend him and shame these grown men. The following was reported in the Sunan of An-Nasa’I,

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، – يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَخْلَدٍ – قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ، – وَهُوَ ابْنُ صَالِحٍ – عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، فِي بَيْتِ الْمَالِ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يُصَلِّي عِنْدَ الْبَيْتِ وَمَلأٌ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ جُلُوسٌ وَقَدْ نَحَرُوا جَزُورًا فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ أَيُّكُمْ يَأْخُذُ هَذَا الْفَرْثَ بِدَمِهِ ثُمَّ يُمْهِلُهُ حَتَّى يَضَعَ وَجْهَهُ سَاجِدًا فَيَضَعُهُ – يَعْنِي – عَلَى ظَهْرِهِ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ فَانْبَعَثَ أَشْقَاهَا فَأَخَذَ الْفَرْثَ فَذَهَبَ بِهِ ثُمَّ أَمْهَلَهُ فَلَمَّا خَرَّ سَاجِدًا وَضَعَهُ عَلَى ظَهْرِهِ فَأُخْبِرَتْ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَهِيَ جَارِيَةٌ فَجَاءَتْ تَسْعَى فَأَخَذَتْهُ مِنْ ظَهْرِهِ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ مِنْ صَلاَتِهِ قَالَ ‏”‏ اللَّهُمَّ عَلَيْكَ بِقُرَيْشٍ ‏”‏ ‏.‏ ثَلاَثَ مَرَّاتٍ ‏”‏ اللَّهُمَّ عَلَيْكَ بِأَبِي جَهْلِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ وَشَيْبَةَ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ وَعُتْبَةَ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ وَعُقْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي مُعَيْطٍ ‏”‏ ‏.‏ حَتَّى عَدَّ سَبْعَةً مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ ‏.‏ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ فَوَالَّذِي أَنْزَلَ عَلَيْهِ الْكِتَابَ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُمْ صَرْعَى يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ فِي قَلِيبٍ وَاحِدٍ ‏.‏

It was narrated that ‘Amr bin Maimun said: “Abdullah told us: ‘The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was praying at the House (the Ka’bah) and a group of the nobles of Quraish were sitting there. They had just slaughtered a camel and one of them said: “Which of you will take these stomach contents with the blood and wait until he prostrates, then put them on his back?” ‘Abdullah said: ‘The one who was most doomed got up and took the stomach contents, then went, and waited until he prostrated himself, and put it on his back. Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), who was a young girl, was told about that, and she came running and took it off his back. When he had finished praying, he said: “O Allah! Punish the Quraish,” three times, “O Allah, punish Abu Jahl bin Hisham, Shaibah bin Rabi’ah, ‘Utbah bin Rabi’ah, ‘Uqbah bin Abi Mu’ait” until he had listed seven men from Quraish.’ ‘Abdullah said: ‘By the One Who revealed the Book to him, I saw them dead on the day of Badr (their corpses) in a single dry well.’”

In another narration regarding the virtues of Lady Fatimah رضي الله عنها, the following was reported,

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ زَنْجُويَهْ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، رضى الله عنه أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏ “‏ حَسْبُكَ مِنْ نِسَاءِ الْعَالَمِينَ مَرْيَمُ ابْنَةُ عِمْرَانَ وَخَدِيجَةُ بِنْتُ خُوَيْلِدٍ وَفَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآسِيَةُ امْرَأَةُ فِرْعَوْنَ ‏”‏‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ ‏.‏

Narrated Anas [may Allah be pleased with him]: that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Sufficient for you among the women of mankind are Mariam bint ‘Imran, Khadijah bint Khuwaylid, Fatimah bint Muhammad and Asiyah the wife of Fir ‘awn.”

Regarding whom was most beloved to the Messenger of Allah the following was narrated,

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، قَالَ كُنْتُ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذْ جَاءَ عَلِيٌّ وَالْعَبَّاسُ يَسْتَأْذِنَانِ فَقَالاَ يَا أُسَامَةُ اسْتَأْذِنْ لَنَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏.‏ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ عَلِيٌّ وَالْعَبَّاسُ يَسْتَأْذِنَانِ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ ‏”‏ أَتَدْرِي مَا جَاءَ بِهِمَا ‏”‏ ‏.‏ قُلْتُ لاَ أَدْرِيَ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏”‏ لَكِنِّي أَدْرِي ‏”‏ ‏.‏ فَأَذِنَ لَهُمَا فَدَخَلاَ فَقَالاَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ جِئْنَاكَ نَسْأَلُكَ أَىُّ أَهْلِكَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ قَالَ ‏”‏ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ مُحَمَّدٍ ‏”‏ ‏.‏ فَقَالاَ مَا جِئْنَاكَ نَسْأَلُكَ عَنْ أَهْلِكَ ‏.‏ قَالَ ‏”‏ أَحَبُّ أَهْلِي إِلَىَّ مَنْ قَدْ أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَأَنْعَمْتُ عَلَيْهِ أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ‏”‏ ‏.‏ قَالاَ ثُمَّ مَنْ قَالَ ‏”‏ ثُمَّ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ‏”‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ الْعَبَّاسُ يَا رَسُولَ الله جَعَلْتَ عَمَّكَ آخِرَهُمْ قَالَ ‏”‏ لأَنَّ عَلِيًّا قَدْ سَبَقَكَ بِالْهِجْرَةِ ‏”‏ ‏.‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ‏.‏ وَكَانَ شُعْبَةُ يُضَعِّفُ عُمَرَ بْنَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ‏.‏

Narrated Usamah bin Zaid: “I was sitting [with the Prophet (ﷺ)] when ‘Ali and Al-‘Abbas came seeking permission to enter. They said: ‘O Usamah, seek permission for us from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).’ So, I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, ‘Ali and Al-‘Abbas seek permission to enter.’ He said: ‘Do you know what has brought them?’ I said: ‘No [I do not know].’ So, the Prophet (ﷺ) said: ‘But I know, grant them permission.’ So, they entered and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, we have come to you, to ask you which of your family is most beloved to you.’ He said: ‘Fatimah bint Muhammad.’ So, they said: ‘We did not come to ask you about (immediate) family.’ He said: ‘The most beloved of my family to me is the one whom Allah favored, and I favored, Usamah bin Zaid.’ They said: ‘Then who?’ He said: ‘Then ‘Ali bin Abi Talib.’ Al-‘Abbas said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, you have made your uncle the last of them.’ He said: ‘Indeed, ‘Ali has preceded you in emigration.’”

Lady Fatimah رضي الله عنها is an honored Muslim in this life and the next. She was the most beloved of her household to the beloved Messenger of Allah ﷺ and she was the first of his family to follow him after his death. The closeness of the Prophet ﷺ and Lady Fatimah can be summarized with the following narration,

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّ عَلِيًّا، ذَكَرَ بِنْتَ أَبِي جَهْلٍ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ ‏ “‏ إِنَّمَا فَاطِمَةُ بَضْعَةٌ مِنِّي يُؤْذِينِي مَا آذَاهَا وَيُنْصِبُنِي مَا أَنْصَبَهَا ‏”‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ‏.‏ هَكَذَا قَالَ أَيُّوبُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ وَقَالَ غَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ عَنِ الْمِسْوَرِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ وَيُحْتَمَلُ أَنْ يَكُونَ ابْنُ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ رَوَى عَنْهُمَا جَمِيعًا ‏.‏

Narrated ‘Abdullah bin Az-Zubair: that ‘Ali mentioned the daughter of Abu Jahl (for marriage), and that reached the Prophet (ﷺ), so he said: “Indeed Fatimah is but a part of me, I am harmed by what harms her and I am uncomfortable by what makes her uncomfortable.”

As the evening enters, take time to reflect upon the house of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . Reflect upon the love that he ﷺ had for his family and household. Reflect upon the dedication, love, and defense that Lady Fatimah and her family رضي الله عنهم gave to Islam and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for the pleasure of Allah. Reflect upon our emulation of these noble characteristics in our own families, households, and tribes. May Allah send blessings and peace upon Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, his household, his companions, his wives, and his descendants.
